Learning about computer systems, software engineering, and how the internet actually works, is like opening up a door to a whole new world. Suddenly you see patterns and connections everywhere - not just in the code you write, but in nature, human genetics, and the entire universe. It is art and math at the same time, and when the two click together they form a perfect whole, and everything seems to make sense.
Globalization has been taken to such extremes as a result of the ever expanding technology and the internet, that it's questionable how healthy it is for us. Information overload is becoming an increasing problem, and the exposure we get to everything from a young age naturally leads to comparing ourselves to others, thinking we're not good enough or getting strange ideas. Is cultural diversity slowly disappearing? What about individuality? Not to mention privacy and the data collection frenzy!
At the same time technological advancements have brought us so many amazing things. The medical field is just one example.
