It’s funny how in life, the lens through which we look at things is so highly affected by the mood we’re in at the time – well, being a highly sensitive and emotional person, at least this is the case for me. A few months ago I went through a phase where I perceived everything through a super positive lens. During that time I saw love everywhere, laughter, happiness… It was so wonderful, and it truly made me realize that all this is there, but it just requires us to see it. Of course, at the same time I was aware of all the awful things that are constantly going on in this world, and I thought “Why do we focus so much on the negative?” When it comes to our inner selves, most of us are our own fiercest critic. We don’t cut ourselves much slack. It might sound simplistic or like a cliché (then again, I’ve already stated that I believe clichés exist for a reason), but one of my key beliefs is that if everyone could love themselves, they would be much more capable of loving others. This also means not hating so much. This world isn’t fair. I don’t need to tell you in what way – you already know – but I often find myself almost feeling guilty for how privileged I am, to be born in a country of endless possibilities, (mostly) functioning systems, and cleanliness. Not only that – money has never truly been a problem in my life. That is more than can be said for most of the world’s inhabitants. I constantly keep questioning myself about whether I’m doing the best I can to improve this world, whether I’m making a difference with this one life I have, whether there’s more I could do, etc.
So while I was going through this "positivity phase", I decided to start Happy Vibes Project. The goal was nothing in particular at the time – it's the journey that matters, and I think we're often way too focused on the end goal of everything we do – but the intention behind it was to contribute to spreading happy vibes, and aim to do that in everything I do. Not always an easy task, and I’m of course only human, but keeping this thought in mind has helped me a lot when going through difficult times ever since then. Trying to get ourselves distanced from this “human condition” that we live in is a daily challenge, when we even remember to pay it some thought.
In this blog, I am focusing on happy vibes, but I write about other topics and struggles as well. I also share our newsletter posts, and welcome guest bloggers. Hope you enjoy!
Happy Vibes Project is, first and foremost, a space where I share my excitement and fascina-tion about being human. I have a tendency to fall into research rabbit holes on almost any topic from science & technology to film ma-king, philosophy, cultu-re, art ... and, of course, holistic health. Happi-ness only gets better when shared, so feel free to reach out if you have an interesting story or would like to con-tribute in any other way! <3
