A part of being human means that we have the capacity to imagine. We are the only species on this planet that can do that. We can reflect on things, dream, plan, and picture things in our minds even when they're not in front of us. This is perhaps a blessing and a curse, and we often forget to be present because we're too busy making plans for the future, or worrying about something that happened in the past.
I think it's important to try to find ways to be present that work for you in your daily life. It can be a different thing for each of us. Meditation is great, and I'm going to write more about that later, as it's been a big deal to me personally, to realize what meditation is really all about. I think there are a lot of misconceptions about it out there. But being present can mean to simply engage in an activity that you find enjoyable, and which requires the right amount of focus so your mind doesn't start to wander.
Some ideas: making art (it doesn't matter if it's good or if anyone else will see it - it's just for you!); dancing to music you love; enjoying food while you're eating it (yes, this actually can be challenging); swimming in the ocean; taking a walk in nature; even cooking or doing other housework can be very calming actually, and makes you focus on what you're doing. My own favorite "being present" thing to do is dance, and I am dreaming of a big dance party on the beach... But in the meantime I'm just going to close my eyes, put on some awesome music, and imagine I'm at such a party - because I'm human so I can! :D

Happy Vibes Project is, first and foremost, a space where I share my excitement and fascina-tion about being human. I have a tendency to fall into research rabbit holes on almost any topic from science & technology to film ma-king, philosophy, cultu-re, art ... and, of course, holistic health. Happi-ness only gets better when shared, so feel free to reach out if you have an interesting story or would like to con-tribute in any other way! <3
